If you have experienced sexual assault, here are some things to consider:
Get to a safe place. If you’re in immediate danger, call 911 or Campus Safety at 413-585-5555.
Seek medical attention. Even if you don’t have visible injuries, it’s important to get medical care. Cooley Dickinson Hospital has specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) who can provide medical treatment and collect evidence if you choose.
Preserve evidence. If possible, try not to shower, bathe, douche, brush your teeth, or change clothes before seeking medical care. If you do change clothes, place them in a paper bag (not plastic). Evidence can be collected even if you haven't decided whether to report.
You don’t have to decide anything right now. Having evidence collected does not obligate you to file a police report or pursue any action. You can decide later what feels right for you.
Campus Safety can help. Officers can provide transportation to the hospital, help you understand your options, and connect you with support resources. Call 413-585-2490 (non-emergency) or 413-585-5555 (emergency).
Reach out for support. You don't have to go through this alone. Confidential resources like Counseling Services (413-585-2840) and the Center for Women and Community (413-545-0800) are available to help.
