Mission & Values
The Lazarus Center’s mission is to support students and graduates as they connect their liberal arts study to their career goals. In doing that work, we incorporate the following values:
We strive to provide an environment in which everyone feels that they belong, that they are heard, respected and valued.
We utilize an individualized approach that recognizes and develops each student’s strengths and unique perspectives.
We work to eliminate barriers to access, affirm all students’ identities and advance equity on campus and beyond.
We uplift the value of building strong connections between Smith students, alums and their global communities.
This team of advisers is available to all Smith students and recent alums who have questions or need guidance related to their career endeavors. More about career advising.

This team creates strong bonds between Smithies and employers in all industries. They set up skill-building workshops and direct recruitment events, including site visits and career fairs.
Internships & Praxis
Participating in at least one internship is proven to have a significant impact on career trajectory. Praxis stipends (up to $4,500) enable about 400 Smith students to work at unpaid internships in the U.S. and abroad each summer.
