The Summer Housing Request Form opens on Tuesday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. via Residence Life Self-Service. The deadline for summer housing requests is Wednesday, May 5 at 11:59 p.m.
Summer housing is limited and offered on a first come, first served basis.
Graduating seniors and non-Smith students are not eligible for college housing. We are providing all single occupancy rooms. This means that rooms typically used as doubles throughout the academic year will have only one occupant in summer. This means no students will have a roommate for summer housing.

Payment & Fees
Summer housing will be charged at a weekly rate of $200 (includes room and board) billed by block period.

*Students who are approved for early arrival will have fees waived for approved early arrival dates
Students will be required to sign up for full block periods and will be charged for all block periods requested on their May 15th bill. Students must arrive on the first day of their arrival block but may depart at any point during their summer housing block. Refunds will not be issued for early departures. Students who wish to extend their time in summer housing must contact Residence Life at email@example.com. Students who do not move out by the last day of their scheduled block will be charged for the full rate of the next block.
We are unable to provide financial assistance for on-campus summer housing or off-campus housing obtained by the student.

You are responsible for paying the full amount of your contracted time regardless of whether you stay the entire time. You may not change any weeks already contracted for. If you are unsure about your length of stay, only sign up for the minimal amount of weeks. You may contact Residence Life to request additional weeks, if needed, as space is available.
Rooms will be inspected and damages or cleaning charges will be assessed to you. You will be billed for unreturned room keys.
Move In/Move Out/Key Pickup
Due to COVID guidelines and testing requirements, we will be limiting arrival dates for summer housing. Students may ONLY arrive on the following dates:
Sunday, May 23
Sunday, June 6
Sunday, July 4
Sunday, August 1
Students moving directly from their academic year assignments will remain in their academic year assignment until Monday, May 24.
Students arriving from off-campus locations who are not in the testing protocol will be required to quarantine on-campus upon arrival until receipt of a negative COVID test (typically 24-48 hours). Students who have tested positive for COVID within 90 days of arrival will not be required to quarantine. Proof of a positive COVID test within 90 days must be submitted to the Schacht Center at least 5 business days prior to arrival. Proof of vaccination and/or a negative COVID test result will not be accepted for exemption from quarantine.
Upon arrival, students will report directly to their quarantine location, which will be emailed with their summer housing assignment. Students will not be permitted to leave their quarantine location, except to report for testing, until notified by Residence Life.
All students will pick up their room keys on the Monday following their arrival date. Students moving directly from their academic year assignments can check-in at Clark Hall between 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Students in quarantine will be notified when they can pick up their keys after being released from quarantine.
Students may not arrive on non-arrival dates. NO EXCEPTIONS!
All students will participate in the meal plan. Meals will be offered 7 days a week with breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays and brunch and dinner on weekends. Dining locations and times to be determined.
Students must complete the Dietary Preference Form at least 5 business days prior to their arrival to campus. Extended Housing will not be available for Spring 2021
We are allowing students approved for extended housing to stay in their academic year rooms until Commencement. Students not approved for extended housing must sign up for summer housing for those two weeks.
If you are a student living on campus during the summer, you may store no more than five items in John M. Greene storage. This is short-term storage, and all items stored must be retrieved by the end of the first week of fall classes. Each item should be visibly and clearly labeled with your full name, class year, date stored and date you are returning to campus. The storage facility is in the basement of John M. Greene Hall. You may check-in at the back steps of JMG during posted times to store your items. Additional hours are posted on the web site as they become available. Please note: Smith College is not liable for missing or damaged items that are stored in trunk rooms. In addition, Smith College is not liable for use of off-campus storage options nor does the college endorse particular vendors.
