In a medical emergency, or if you are in a situation that’s unsafe, on or off campus, do not wait—call for help immediately.

Nursing Advice After Hours

  • For nursing advice after hours and weekends, call 413-585-1260. The answering service will take your message and have a nurse call you promptly.
  • Be sure to have your phone with you, charged and ready to receive a callback from the nurse.
  • If you do not receive a call within 45 minutes, please call back again, or if needed, go to urgent care or the emergency room via campus safety. You may reach campus safety from a campus phone at extension 800, or dial 413-585-2490.

Medical Emergencies On Campus

  • In an immediate, life-threatening situation: Call 911 or campus safety
    • In the event of an on campus emergency call 413-585-2490 to reach campus safety or 911 for Northampton Public Safety.
    • Stay on the line until otherwise directed.
  • For urgent matters, notify campus safety at extension 800 from a campus phone; or call 413-585-2490. Consult with either campus safety or the Schacht Center before calling an ambulance, except during immediate life-threatening emergencies.

If you need assistance and cannot speak, use the Silent Call Procedure; you can indicate your need for help by pressing digits on your telephone’s keypad.

Medical Emergencies Off Campus

In the case of a serious accident or emergency, seek immediate care by dialing 911.

Please ask the facility to contact one or more of the following before you are discharged, so that we may provide prompt and appropriate follow up upon your return to campus.

Contact the after-hours nurse (413-585-1260) or counselor (413-585-2840) before seeking urgent care or going to the emergency room when possible. Urgent care without an appointment is available at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and CVS Minute Clinic. Campus safety can provide urgent transportation to Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

If you need assistance and cannot speak, use the Silent Call Procedure; you can indicate your need for help by pressing digits on your telephone’s keypad.
