Accidents & Emergencies
In a medical emergency, or if you are in a situation that’s unsafe, on or off campus, do not wait—call for help immediately.
Nursing Advice After Hours
- For nursing advice after hours and weekends, call 413-585-1260. The answering service will take your message and have a nurse call you promptly.
- Be sure to have your phone with you, charged and ready to receive a callback from the nurse.
- If you do not receive a call within 45 minutes, please call back again, or if needed, go to urgent care or the emergency room via Campus Police, 413-585-2490.
Medical Emergencies On Campus
- Notify Campus Police at 413-585-2490. Consult with either Campus Police or Health Services before calling an ambulance.
- Call 911 first in immediate, life threatening emergencies. Ask the dispatcher to contact Smith College Campus Police. Stay on the line until otherwise directed.
If you need assistance and cannot speak, use the Silent Call Procedure; you can indicate your need for help by pressing digits on your telephone’s keypad.
Medical Emergencies Off Campus
In the case of a serious accident or emergency, seek immediate care at the nearest medical facility, but ask the person accompanying you or the medical attendant to contact one or more of the following:
