STAFF

Director

Catherine McCune, former visiting professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Smith, is the center’s inaugural director. McCune received her doctoral degree in mathematics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She came to Smith College after post-doctoral positions at the Technische Universitaet Berlin and the University of Connecticut at Storrs, where she pursued research in the theory of minimal surfaces.

Calculus Counselor

Patricia Sipe received her PhD in differential geometry from Cornell University. Besides teaching mathematics at Smith College, she has also served as the Director of Graduate Programs.

Data Research and Statistics Counselor

Vahab Khademi is is a graduate student at UMass, working towards the MSc in Statistics at the Mathematics and Statistics Department and towards a PhD in Educational Measurement. His current research interests include Behavioral Statistics, Educational Statistics, Psychometric Modeling, Language Assessment, Item Response Theory, Computer Adaptive Testing, and Differential Item Functioning.

Administrative Assistant

Kate Senecal most recently worked as an Administrative Associate at EL Education, a national education reform-oriented non-profit organization based in Amherst. She has an MFA in Writing with a fiction concentration from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2013.
