Senior Spotlights

From now until Commencement, we’re highlighting remarkable members of the class of 2024 and the incredible experiences they’ve had at Smith.

Michel Ruiz-Fuentes

Statistical & Data Sciences and Education double major

“The Haven-Wesley study, a glass-enclosed room overlooking Paradise Pond and Chapin lawn, has become a memorable space for spending time with friends, where we've enjoyed watching shows and participated in group pomodoro sessions. Hillyer Library’s serene ambience, natural lighting, and tranquility, fosters a space for learning, reflection, and productive work sessions.”

Vivian DeRosa

English Language & Literature major; Study of Women & Gender minor; Archives concentrator

“I think both archives and English have the same spine: storytelling. I’m grateful for my archives capstone whenever I’m working on an English essay, because it’s honed my research skills and inquisitive instincts to better understand the temporal and cultural context of the work I’m studying. ”

Abi Bowering

Mathematical Sciences major

“Living in Tenney is a different experience from most other campus houses, because it's a co-op. The 14 residents cook and clean together, and take care of each other in a truly loving and intentional way. Every person in my house immediately became my family, and I think that's really special.”

Mack Case

Sociology major; Statistical & Data Sciences minor; Book Studies concentrator

”[My favorite class outside my major was] definitely “The Book: Theory and Practice” with Barry Moser. Any Book Studies concentrator will also say this—that class was so, so cool, very hands-on, and the closest I ever came to feeling like an art major with zero background in the arts all while hanging out with Barry Moser (perhaps the most intriguing man on campus).“
