Smith College is eager to provide an outstanding education to qualified women from all economic backgrounds, and we meet the full documented need of every admitted student who completes the financial aid application by the published deadlines. We also offer financial advice to help all families manage the cost of college, whether or not they qualify for aid. This partnership between Smith and families has allowed many women to afford an investment in quality private education.

Important Information

Smith College is offering a Continuation Plan for students previously insured in the 2019-20 Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP). This plan is underwritten by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and is serviced by Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk.

This Continuation Plan has been made available due to the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic and the understanding that many students who had been insured for 2019–20 under their school’s SHIP will be left uninsured when their current plan expires and who will not be eligible for school’s SHIP for 2020-21 due to graduation or disenrollment. The enrollment form must be received within 15 days of termination of coverage under the School’s Student Health Insurance Plan. Please carefully read the cover letter before submitting the Enrollment FormThe deadline for enrollment is August 30, 2020 (not August 31 as stated on the form).

For more information on the plan benefits, please visit the Gallagher Student website

Smith College employees will be working remotely due to COVID-19. As a result, there will be technology and staffing limitations.

Please note the following:

Paper check payments are strongly discouraged due to mail delivery and staffing shortages. Posting of paper checks will be unusually delayed. We strongly encourage the use of our online payment system, TouchNet.

Financial aid applicants are encouraged to use Net Partner, our secure fax or College Board’s IDOC service to submit financial aid documents. Use of mail services will result in a delay.

The use of email is strongly encouraged as we will not be able to receive phone calls at the SFS office during this period.
