Accessibility Resource Center
The Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) serves as a central point of information and coordination to ensure equal access and full participation for students with disabilities in all programs and activities at Smith College. Employee accommodations are coordinated by Human Resources.
Our Work
Principles of Universal Design and Disability Justice guide us in our work as we strive to proactively identify and remove barriers to participation wherever possible. We also strive to promote a disability-positive and inclusive climate at Smith; such a climate recognizes each person's multiple identities and values all diverse perspectives which contribute to a rich living and learning environment. Smith's commitment to providing support and services is balanced with a humanistic and developmental approach that requires student engagement and responsibility in the accommodation process.

Housing Accommodations for Incoming Students
Incoming students will not have access to our student-facing database Accommodate until the 3rd week in May. While incoming students will have all summer to meet with members of ARC staff to discuss academic accommodations, the deadline for housing accommodations is June 1, 2026. It’s not too early to meet with with Accommodations Coordinator Lisa Page regarding housing and how ARC can best support you. Here’s how to beat the rush:
- Email ARC at arc@smith.edu
- Be sure to identify yourself as an incoming student who is seeking housing accommodations.
- ARC will reach out to you about setting up an appointment with Accommodations Coordinator Lisa Page at a time which is convenient for you.
- This meeting will be an opportunity to get to know each other and discuss your needs around housing. Discussions around academic accommodations will take place after the June 1 housing deadline.
- Be sure to complete an Accommodation Request Form in Accommodate once it opens in late May, including all of your accommodation requests: housing, academic and dining.
- Upload all supporting documentation.
- We will confirm via email when your housing accommodations have been submitted to Residence Life, and be in touch with regards to any academic accommodations and meeting with a member of our staff.
