The Power of Your Own Voice: A Virtual Conversation With Imani Missouri ’08
Published October 26, 2020
Smith’s cherished tradition of sharing stories over afternoon tea offers time and space for reflection and camaraderie with fellow Smithies. Imani Missouri ’08, owner of Faith Forward LLC, elevates this concept through her podcast, Forward 40 (4tea)—a platform celebrating differences and promoting the narratives of women of color in the nonprofit and social enterprise sector.
On Tuesday, October 27, at 6 p.m. (ET), Imani will lead a discussion on how to amplify your voice in positions of leadership. Together we will explore support systems that are fundamental to ensuring personal and professional growth beyond the Grécourt Gates.
Imani is the inaugural speaker for Alum Office Hours, a new virtual series promoting intergenerational connection within the Smith network. Alums will connect virtually with Smithie experts to seek advice on establishing one’s own trajectory for success at any stage of their career. Like conversations over a coffee break, Alum Office Hours offers time for more informal networking and space for candid dialogue with industry leaders. Each event will focus on cohort building around careers and/or identities.
This event will be interactive—participants are welcome and encouraged to ask questions, offer their thoughts, and connect with presenters and fellow alums.
The next event in the Alum Office Hours series will be November 19, 2020, at 6 p.m. (ET), with the focus of “How to get noticed by an employer or recruiter.” More details to come. Keep up-to-date on alumnae events on the alumnae events calendar.
