Published September 7, 2021

Dear students, staff and faculty:

Below, please find important campus, regional and national updates from the COVID-19 Incident Response Team (CIRT).

Campus Status

Over the past seven days, there have been one positive case of COVID-19 reported through the on-campus campus screening program. For more data on the screening program, please visit please visit Coronavirus Screening.

Current Policies and Restrictions

The following restrictions are in place until at least September 10. Information on updated guidance will be provided at tomorrow’s all-community meeting.

  • Student personal travel is restricted to Hampshire County. Travel organized by course instructors or college offices for curricular or co-curricular purposes is excluded from this travel restriction. Students are strongly encouraged to avoid indoor activities where masks cannot be worn (e.g. bars, restaurants, parties).
  • Students are required to be tested twice weekly in Smith’s asymptomatic testing program.
  • We are reducing capacity in the dining halls to 50%. We also encourage outdoor eating and small groups when indoors.

All-Community Meeting

Our next all-community update meeting will take place this Wednesday, September 8, at 12:30 p.m. on Zoom: https://smith.zoom.us/j/93293837876.

Campus Visitors

Guidance is now available regarding the vaccination guidance for different kinds of visitors to campus. There are three different categories: those who require formal proof of vaccination; those who must complete an attestation of having been vaccinated or having a formal exemption; and those who are not required to provide an attestation or proof of vaccination. Full details are available at https://www.smith.edu/covid19/guidelines-policies#visitorguidelines.
