David DeSwert Named Vice President for Finance and Administration

Dear students, staff and faculty:

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of David DeSwert as Smith’s next vice president for finance and administration (VPFA). He will begin his new role effective immediately.

The VPFA is a key position at the college. Reporting directly to me, the VPFA has a large portfolio. David, who has served as Smith’s interim vice president for finance and administration since July 1, 2019, will oversee the college’s administrative, business and finance operations; facilities, space planning, construction and capital projects; human resources; dining and catering operations; campus police; executive education programs; and environmental sustainability. I am confident that David will continue to build on this success and I look forward to working with him in the years ahead as a trusted partner.
