Over the last two years, Smith has enacted budget reductions in response to the global economic downturn. This site presents reports and updates from the inception of the planning process in fall 2009 through the most recent implementation decisions of spring 2010, ensuring full and direct information for the Smith community.

As always, I am grateful to the faculty, staff and student members of the Committee on Mission and Priorities and the Advisory Committee on Resource Allocation, who have advised me on the creation and implementation of our budget reduction plan and will continue to do so in the future. With the benefit of their wisdom and resolve, we are enacting measures that not only address the immediate economic context but position Smith for long-term financial stability and competitive strength.
