Biography

S. Brook Corfman’s most recent book of poetry, My Daily Actions, or The Meteorites, was one of the New York Times’ Best Poetry Books of 2020, a finalist for the Leslie Feinberg Award for Trans and Gender-Variant Literature, and chosen by Cathy Park Hong as the winner of the Fordham University Press poetry prize. Her first collection, Luxury, Blue Lace, was named an “extraordinary debut” in a starred review by Publishers Weekly and chosen by Richard Siken for the Autumn House Rising Writing Prize. Her other work includes an artist book and a short collection of performance pieces as well as collaborations with visual artists, choreographers, filmmakers, playwrights, and musicians. Her newest book of poems, The Turn, will be published by Alice James in 2028.

Corfman also holds a Ph.D. in critical and cultural studies from the University of Pittsburgh, and has published peer-reviewed, public-facing, and personal essays on gender transition, poetry, and film. In 2024 she received the Lyric Poetry Award from the Poetry Society of America, and in 2027 she will be the Critic-at-Large for The Georgia Review. She is working on a book about the visual artist Greer Lankton.
