Other clubs, sports, and activities you’d like to mention:
I proudly serve as the president of Smith Democrats and the vice president of the Smith College Historical Society. For the 2023 summer, I interned with Representative Mark Takano through the Victory Institute in D.C., working to pass key legislation, such as the Equality Act. I am passionate about LGBTQ political scholarship and presented related research, with my friend Grace Rade ’24, at the 2023 Midwest Political Science Association Conference. I’ve also enjoyed working on several research projects with Professor Scott LaCombe.

Describe your major in five words or less.
Serving (the people)!

What is one preconception about your major that people often get wrong?
False: We are uncompromising debaters and aspiring presidents who want to exercise power over others.
True: Most government majors I know prefer discussing solutions and change-making at all levels of government (or through non-governmental work).

Most government majors I know prefer discussing solutions and change-making at all levels of government.

What was the best advice about your major that you were ever given?
Make friends, take risks, and talk to your professors. If there is a research project or internship you want to pursue, do it! But first, consult friends and professors — they will provide crucial support in accomplishing your goals.

Where is your favorite spot on campus?
The Mill River trail! My favorite spot is not technically on campus but rather right on the edge. I love walking on the side of the river accessible behind the track.
