Jack Dew

Jack Dew is assistant general counsel for the college and provides legal advice and support to the college community on a broad range of matters. He joined Smith in November 2025 from the University at Albany, State University of New York, where he served as associate campus counsel. Prior to shifting to higher education, Jack practiced employment, First Amendment, antitrust, and commercial litigation in private practice. He has a bachelor’s degree in English from Wesleyan University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review and was a Dillard Fellow teaching legal research and writing.
