Hafsa Oubou
Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology
Biography
Hafsa Oubou is a visiting assistant professor of anthropology at Smith College. She earned her Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from Northwestern University and an M.A. in Middle Eastern and North African studies from the University of Arizona. Her research draws on ethnography to examine Islam, migration, Moroccan diaspora, and moral governance in Belgium, as well as human-machine relations, speculative futures, and everyday life. She is completing a book manuscript, (Un)learning Islam: A Speculative Ethnography of Blame in Brussels, about Muslim public life and the politics of blame.
