Biography

Emily Ness is a polymer chemist who embraces an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research. She is enthusiastic about working with undergraduate students and exposing them to the fascinating and applicable world of polymer science. During her doctoral studies at the University of Minnesota, she specialized in studying the structure-property relationships of core-shell bottlebrush block polymers for applications in nanotechnology. As a postdoctoral scholar at Amherst College, she designed green and sustainable polymers for biomedical applications. Currently, she is a postdoc in the labs of Professor Kate Queeney and Professor Maren Buck. She has taught general chemistry and organic chemistry lab courses with pedagogical training in guided-inquiry and student-driven learning.
