Biography

Emily has been working in the costume shop at Smith for over 20 years. She is the costume director and costume designer for the dance department. Emily is also a freelance costume designer. Her costume design and scenic design credits include productions for Mesa Youtheatre, in Mesa, AZ; New Repertory Theatre and Loeb Drama Center; Concord Academy in Boston, MA; New Century Theatre; Five Colleges, Inc.; Smith College; Deerfield Academy; Majestic Theater; and Academy of Music in the Pioneer Valley. She has been the costume designer for Pioneer Valley Ballet for over 15 years. Her shows include the Pioneer Valley Ballet’s Nutcracker, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. Emily is the recipient of two Zoni awards for her work with Mesa Youtheatre for set and costume design for Jungle Book and costume design for Dream Pools. She has received an IRNIE for costume design for Tartuffe with the New Repertory Theater in Boston, MA. She also has a love of opera. Her opera credits include resident costumer for Aspen Music Festival 2000 and 2002-2003, Utah Festival Opera, and many shows in the valley.
