Charlene Shang Miller

Biography
Charlene Shang Miller has been the academic programs educator at Smith College Museum of Art since 2014. She also co-manages Smith College's Museums Concentration. She is primarily responsible for creating and facilitating curriculum-integrated and object-based learning experiences for students and faculty and developing related programming and interpretive resources for exhibitions. Her professional practice focuses on proactive collaboration with faculty, students, museum colleagues and campus partners to empower and give agency for profound engagement with art and the museum. A skilled educator and strategic thinker, she has deep experience in art museum teaching, interpretation and programming, having held education positions at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Carnegie Museum of Art, The Getty, the University of Iowa Museum of Art and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She earned a bachelor's in the history of art from the University of Michigan and master's in art history and museum studies from the University of Southern California.
