Smith Board Approves Faculty Promotions

At its March meeting, the Smith College Board of Trustees approved tenure and promotion recommendations for sixteen faculty members including the appointment of President-elect Kathleen McCartney as professor in the Department of Psychology.
Promoted to full professor from associate professor were Jonathan Gosnell, French studies; Adam Hall, biological sciences; Joel Pitchon, music; Kevin Shea, chemistry; Marc Steinberg, sociology; Dominique Thiébaut, computer science; Hélène Visentin, French studies; and Steve Waksman, music; and from the School for Social Work, Joanne Corbin.
Promoted to associate professor with tenure from assistant professor were Carrie Baker, study of women and gender; Michael Barresi, biological sciences; Ibtissam Bouachrine, Spanish and Portuguese studies; Daniel Kramer, theatre; Sara Pruss, geosciences; and Eeva Sointu, sociology.
