Faculty Members Approved for Tenure and Promotions

At its meeting earlier this month, the board of trustees approved tenure and promotion recommendations for 12 faculty members.

Promoted to full professor from associate professor were Gary Felder, physics; Roisin O’Sullivan, economics; and Amy Rhodes, geosciences.

Promoted to associate professor with tenure from assistant professor were Payal Banerjee, sociology; Annaliese Beery, pyschology; Serguei Glebov, history; Laura Kalba, art; Rajan Mehta, mathematics and statistics; Caroline Melly, anthropology; Andrea Stone, English language and literature; and Tina Wildhagen, sociology.

Promoted to senior lecturer was Nan Zhang, theatre.

President Kathleen McCartney congratulated the faculty members “for their well-deserved promotions.”

Smith, which is the largest women’s liberal arts college in the country, has a faculty of 294 and a student-to-faculty ratio of 9-to-1.
