CANCELED: Jameela Jamil Will Speak at Smith on April 2

An April 2 talk by actress and activist Jameela Jamil has been canceled. All who purchased or reserved tickets have been notified, and refunds are being processed.

About Jameela Jamil

Jameela Jamil is perhaps best known for starring with Ted Danson and Kristen Bell in Mike Schur’s Golden Globe-nominated NBC series, “The Good Place.”

In addition, she can be seen hosting various shows on late night television in the U.S. She also is a frequent contributor and guest host for the NBC talk show “Last Call with Carson Daly,” and hosts the TBS late night game show “The Misery Index,” making her the only female woman of color hosting late-night television. Jamil has also been cast in the Disney series “Mira, Royal Detective” with an all-Indian cast that includes Freida Pinto and Kal Penn, set to air in 2020.

In 2010, Jamil got her first solo presenting role on “Koko Pop,” a music show filmed in Camden’s iconic club Koko, which proved to be a big hit on Channel 4. The following year she fronted E4’s cult series “Playing It Straight,” and BBC Radio 1 announced her as the new host for their “Request Show” on Sunday evenings. By 2013, she landed the role of first female presenter to host BBC Radio 1’s “The Official Chart Show.”

In addition to her broadcast work, Jamil has also fronted a TV ad campaign for Maybelline and has been featured in many publications, gracing the covers of The Guardian, The Times, Stylist, Red and US Nylon. As a journalist who penned a monthly column for Company Magazine, she was nominated for columnist of the year at both the PPA Awards and the BSME Awards.

This event is organized by the Student Event Committee at Smith.

Advance tickets are required and will be available online. Tickets are available now for Smith students, and will be available to the general public beginning Monday, Feb. 17.

No backpacks are allowed, and proper ID will be required for entrance.

• Smith and Five College Faculty and staff — $10
• Smith Alums — $10
• General public — $15
