As we are discussing how to educate all Smith students about race and antiracism, come learn about how Villanova University has accomplished this through their Race, Justice & Dialogue Course. Professor Bowen will share its origins, design, and goals. This course uses an innovative approach to introduce and deepen student engagement of power and difference through the lens and approach of antiracism. The course is based on three integrated parts: Pre-produced modules about race and racism, disciplinary content about race, power and difference as they relate to specific academic disciplines, and facilitated and sustained dialogue throughout the semester.
Facilitated by Sherry Perlmutter Bowen, Associate Professor of Communication, Center for Dialogue Faculty Director, Villanova University
