"Stalinist Central Asia Through the Eyes of Two American Women"

A lecture by David Chioni Moore, Chair of International Studies and Professor of International Studies and English at Macalester College Dr. Moore’s research examines literary and cultural interactions in the Black Atlantic world, including African, African-American, Caribbean, and post-Soviet connections. He is co-editor with Martin Bernal of "Black Athena Writes Back" (Duke, 2001),and the author of numerous scholarly articles. His current research includes the preparation of critical editions of two works by Langston Hughes: an expanded edition of "A Negro Looks at Soviet Central Asia," originally published in the USSR in1934; and "From Harlem to Johannesburg," a collection of Hughes’s correspondence with four pioneering black South African authors.
