June 2 Weekly CIRT Campus Update

CIRT Update

Published June 2, 2021

Dear students, staff and faculty:

Below, please find important campus, regional and national updates from the COVID-19 Incident Response Team (CIRT).

Campus Status

The campus is currently operating in summer mode.

Over the past seven days, there have been zero positive cases of COVID-19 reported through the on-campus campus screening program. For more data on the screening program, please visit Coronavirus Screening.

Changes to Summer Operating Mode

Consistent with changes to the number of cases of COVID-19 in the region, regulation by the commonwealth of Massachusetts, new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the results of surveys of the vaccination status of students and employees, the college is implementing summer operating protocols. Key points are noted below; details are on the summer operating mode webpage.

  • The college no longer requires that masks be worn outdoors. We welcome anyone who wishes to wear a mask to continue to do so. Masks must continue to be worn indoors regardless of vaccination status.
  • As of June 2, students and employees in the college community asymptomatic screening program will be tested once per week (Precollege Programs will have their own testing frequency).
  • Physical distancing and room capacity limitations are rescinded.

Community Forums

We will continue to hold community forums through the summer. We look forward to seeing you at meetings on the following dates:

  • June 16
  • June 30
  • July 14
  • July 28

As always, please send any questions to covid19info@smith.edu
