Niki Farahani

Biography

is Iranian-American, originally from Connecticut and based in New York. She received her BFA in dance from Umass Amherst in 2015. While there, she performed in the works of Camille A. Brown, Sidra Bell, Janice Brown, Gallim, and Leslie Frye-Maietta. Critical moments in the years after including a residency at EPDM in Sinaloa, Mexico, and Vertigo's Contact Improv Festival Eco-Village in Israel. She performed in NYC Festivals such as The White Wave Festival and INSITU-LIC, and notably was a past member of VESSELS and Heath In Progress as a principal member. In the fall of 2022, Farahani participated in the New Museum’s (LES) Summer Residency in collaboration with Ilya Vidrin. Her current research lies in the desire to dissect the pigments of loss we as a human species experience from a cultural lens and the misconceptions of formality/civility.
