Gain practical experience in the areas of business, consulting, finance and entrepreneurship by working at the center, joining the Smithies in Business, the Consulting Club, Startup Smith or the Smith College Investment Club.

Academic Year Internships

Have you wanted to get involved but thought to yourself, "I'm not an econ major" or "I don't like math?" Have you attended at least one Conway activity in the past? Then you are an ideal candidate to become an intern!

Every academic year, the center employs between 15-20 student interns to staff the center (not available to first-year students.) Students are not only assigned daily tasks, but also work in teams on projects developed by the center's faculty and staff.

If you have enthusiasm for learning about personal finance, entrepreneurship and innovation, can demonstrate an aptitude for working with other students and have excellent writing, research or marketing skills, please apply for a position via Workday.

Smithies in Business

Smithies in Business (SIB) provides students who are interested pursuing careers in business, consulting, and entrepreneurship with resources and networking opportunities. Each semester's programming is tailored to the interests and needs of undergraduate students who want to build a strong network of professional women and would like to explore fields that require business experience and knowledge. SIB also runs SmiTHrift, the student initiative to open a thrift store on campus.

Smith College Consulting Club

As a relatively new club on campus, Smith College Consulting Club works collaboratively whether it be to prepare members for job recruitment, or to encourage interest in the field. Practicing various types of consulting cases throughout the year, members gain insight into how different types of case studies are executed. Fostering relationships with classmates by bringing in alum speakers, visiting consulting companies, the club aims to guide students how to apply what they learn in the classroom in the real world. The Startup Consulting Group is a hands-on, competitive opportunity for members to apply their skills in the service of Pioneer Valley startups who are preparing for investor presentations and launch.

Club members meet on a regular basis to discuss asset allocation, analyze fund performance and decide how to successfully operate a well-diversified portfolio. Dividends are donated to Smith College Financial Aid (75 percent) and to the Student Government Association (25 percent) for campus-wide activities. Meetings are on Thursdays from 7-9pm in Seelye (room TBA) beginning September 20th.

Startup Smith

Startup Smith seeks to engage diverse groups on campus and challenge the assumptions of who can create a “start-up.” The world of entrepreneurship can be very intimidating for the inexperienced with notions about who belongs difficult to overcome. Startup Smith is a space for every student interested in starting their own business, making money off their skills or learning more about the work of their peers.
