What are you most looking forward to about campus?
I’m looking forward to meeting the friends I’ve made virtually since being accepted ED1, and getting to take part in all the campus and house traditions.
How would you describe a Smithie in three words?
Committed, clever and compassionate.
What item from home do you plan to bring and why?
I’m bringing “A Wrinkle In Time” by Madeleine L’Engle and my collection of Emily Dickinson poems because they are my go-to comfort books and having them around makes any space automatically feel more like home.
What’s your favorite family tradition?
Every year on Christmas Eve everyone in the family gets to open matching pajamas and change into them right away before making hot chocolate, turning on a movie and then picking one gift for someone else in the family to open that night. We’ve done it every year in some shape or form, and it’s one of the only lasting traditions that’s guaranteed to happen each year.
What year would you visit if you had a time machine?
I would visit a year in the 1830s because many poets of the Romantic era were alive and actively writing their works during this time, and I would likely travel all around meeting as many of them as possible.
