Daisy Pereira-Tosado

Smith Staff

Office of Alumnae Relations and Development

Associate Director of Major Gifts/Senior Philanthropic Officer

What brought you to Smith?
I've been on staff since February 2022. I came to Smith because I wanted to refocus on mission-driven philanthropy. Supporting women-centered spaces has always been dear to me. The added bonus is that my daughter is a member of the class of 2025.

How would you describe what you do here at Smith?
I secure resources so that the tradition of educating women who will change the world continues. Even more compelling is the thought that these resources will eventually allow qualified women of promise to be admitted to the institution without factoring in need.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?
I love the open spaces. It is lovely to take a walk and feel like I am connecting with nature.

How has your background prepared you for your current job at Smith?
I have concentrated my work and philanthropy (giving of my time, talent and treasure) in building equity for oppressed communities. I feel secure that I can help Smith reach its goal of raising $200 million in endowed funds for the Here For Every Voice initiative that will help us move towards need-blind admission.

When you’re not working or traveling for Smith, what are you most likely to be found doing?
Spending time with family—at the beach, reading, hiking and cooking.

What are you reading/watching/digging into these days?
I have a stack of books to read. I tend to read one or two per month. For pleasure I'm currently reading The Guncle and for professional growth I'm digging into The Spirituality of Giving.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Greece. I've always wanted to visit. I think I could identify with the culture.

What’s a project you are passionate about?
Building equity and supporting oppressed communities. I serve on several nonprofit boards that work within marginalized communities with the intention of holding those organizations accountable for building equity within their scope.

What’s a fun fact about you?
I love body art and piercings.

Which do you prefer: The Bulb Show or Mum Show?
Bulb Show

Who would you most like to have dinner with?
I'm perfectly content having dinner with my wife and children.

Which one: Campus Café or Compass café?
Campus Café
