Mohini Kulp

Senior Laboratory Instructor in Chemistry

Mohini Kulp

Ford Hall 315

Mohini Kulp is interested in developing exercises that teach students to use analytical chemistry techniques to answer questions of interest at the interface of chemistry and biology. Recent projects include looking at toxic heavy metals in herbal medicines and using mass spectrometry to test for illegal pharmaceuticals in herbal supplements.

Mohini (Mona) Kulp has bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry and mathematics from Mount Holyoke College. Her doctorate is in biophysics from the University of California, San Francisco. She has worked at Smith College in the Center for Proteomics and currently teaches in the chemistry department. Her teaching and research interests have focused on the use of analytical chemistry to answer questions that are of interest to biologists. In the Summer Science & Engineering Program, Kulp instructs students in laboratory-based courses and well as helping students learn how to communicate effectively as scientists through science writing assignments and oral presentations.
