Biography

Beth Balmuth Raffeld, a seasoned professional with extensive college and university experience, joined Smith in 2013 from MIT, where she served as the senior director of the Office of Philanthropic Partnerships under President Susan Hockfield. During Raffeld’s career, she has held key leadership roles with campaigns for Williams College, Harvard University, the Museum of Science in Boston, MIT, and Smith College. Raffeld manages the integrated departments of development and alumnae relations. She serves as an adviser to the president and to the Smith College Board of Trustees on issues related to development. Raffeld began her development career in Chicago while taking graduate courses in music at the University of Chicago. Beth earned a bachelor’s degree in English and music from Mount Holyoke College.
