In the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and and the resulting devastation in east Texas, Louisiana, Florida and the Caribbean, the campus community is rallying to support those affected.

The college has reached out to students from affected areas to provide support.

President Kathleen McCartney and Vice President for Alumnae Relations Jennifer Chrisler ’92 wrote to alumnae in the greater Houston area, Florida and the Caribbean to extend the support of the Smith community around the world.

“Please know that we—your friends and fellow alumnae of Smith College—are holding you in our thoughts,” they wrote.” We hope that you are safe and out of harm’s way. During times like these, may the strength of our community provide you with much-needed solace.”

Fund drives across the college, including one led by the Student Government Association, are underway to support hurricane relief efforts.
