Written and illustrated by Ariel Aberg-Riger ’03, America Redux: Visual Stories From Our Dynamic History isn’t just a history book, it’s also a bona fide work of art. Described as “riveting, enraging, and empowering” by Kirkus Reviews, Aberg-Riger’s debut book won a 2023 Kirkus Prize and was deemed one of the year’s best books by Publishers Weekly. Across 21 chapters supported by vivid archival photo collages, handwritten messages, and other illustrations, America Redux relays tales of slavery, genocide, immigration, women’s suffrage, and more in a thought-provoking format fittingly advertised as “not your mama’s history textbook.”
