Dear students, staff and faculty:
Thank you for continuing to follow our campus health and safety policies.
Here are some important campus, regional and national updates from the COVID-19 Incident Response Team (CIRT).
Campus Status
The campus is currently operating in GREEN mode. For an explanation of the college’s color-coded operating modes, please visit Status & Operating Modes.
Over the past seven days, there have been 2 positive cases of COVID-19 reported through the on-campus screening program. For more data on the screening program, please visit Coronavirus Screening.
Vaccine Forum
Join us on Wednesday, March 17, for a virtual community forum about the COVID-19 vaccine and have your questions answered. Let’s talk about the science, misconceptions, benefits and outcomes we face with the COVID-19 vaccine. Look for an email later this week with more information.
Vaccine Information
As a reminder, the following are eligible for vaccination at this time:
- Individuals aged 65 or older
- Individuals with two or more certain medical conditions
On Wednesday, March 3, Governor Baker announced that an additional group will be eligible to schedule vaccination appointments starting on March 11:
- Workers in early childhood education, day care and K-12 education.
If you are eligible, please use this website to find a vaccination site and schedule an appointment. The nearest location is the Northampton Senior Center on Conz Street, which is within walking distance to campus.
Students with questions about transportation to a vaccination site should contact Student Affairs.
Smith College has registered with the state to assist in the vaccine rollout. At this time, vaccination is not available on campus. We will notify our community immediately should that change.
Dining and Waste
This semester we’ve made significant changes in dining, which include new ways to sort waste to minimize the amount of material we take to the landfill. We thank dining and facilities staff and students for implementing and adjusting to the new waste-sorting system on campus. If you have questions about bin placement or management, please email Facilities Management at facmgmnt@smith.edu. Send questions about waste sorting or sustainability to the Center for the Environment at ceeds@smith.edu.
