CIRT Update
Published August 2, 2021
Dear students, staff and faculty:
Below, please find important campus, regional and national updates from the COVID-19 Incident Response Team (CIRT).
Campus Status
Over the past seven days, there have been zero positive cases of COVID-19 reported through the on-campus campus screening program. For more data on the screening program, please visit Coronavirus Screening.
Fall Operating Mode Has Begun
As a reminder, the college began operating under its Fall 2021 plan as of August 1. Many campus buildings are now open to the public during the day. Information about access to specific buildings will be updated as it becomes available. Please note that access to Neilson Library is limited to OneCard holders at this time. For more information, please see the libraries website. The Museum of Art is not yet open to the public.
On-campus offices will reopen following the schedule outlined here. Please note that a Smith login is required to view this schedule. ITS has prepared an overview of helpful preparations for those returning to their offices.
New Massachusetts Mask Guidance
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has released a new advisory regarding indoor masking for fully vaccinated individuals. The advisory states that “Fully vaccinated individuals are advised to wear a mask or face covering when indoors (and not in your own home) if you have a weakened immune system, or if you are at increased risk for severe disease because of your age or an underlying medical condition, or if someone in your household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, or is an unvaccinated adult.”
The college requires that all unvaccinated individuals wear masks indoors and welcomes (but does not require) masking from those who are fully vaccinated.
As always, please send any questions to covid19info@smith.edu
