Joyce Kim ’21

Joyce Kim

Now located: Los Angeles, California

My biggest passion: Asian American representation & civic engagement

What other clubs, sports, other activities are you normally involved in?
Gold Key, Smith Kpop Dance Crew, Homework House, Cushing House Council, East Asian Studies Department Liaison and Korean Students Association.

Is there one thing about everything recently that’s made you particularly resilient?
YES! The whole situation with COVID-19 and having to move out within a couple of days while figuring out travel arrangements.

“Make the most out of college and get out of your comfort zone!”

What’s one message you’d say to incoming students about being at Smith?
Make the most out of college and get out of your comfort zone! Do things that you normally would never do, talk to new people, raise your hand in classes, and be confident in whatever you do.

Is there any other message you’d like to include to the wider Smith community?
I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during these turbulent times.
