Observing at Fort Hill

We welcome students to our school for classroom observations throughout the year. If you are interested in observing at Fort Hill, please contact us by phone, 413-585-3290, or by email, cece@smith.edu.

• When you arrive at Fort Hill, please sign the observation book and check in at the reception desk. The receptionist will take you to the classroom you will be observing and will show you where the observer's chair is located. Most teachers do not mind if you move the chair or yourself around the room to better see what is going on in the classroom.
• Please wash your hands when you enter the classroom. Teachers are usually unable to answer questions while they are with children, but the Program Coordinator will be glad to answer your questions or find the answers for you. 
• Please refrain from engaging the children in conversation, but certainly feel free to answer a child if she/he speaks to you! 
• Out of respect for the classroom we ask that you not have prolonged conversations with any other observer. 
• Please sign out before leaving.
• Please refrain from taking photographs and using cell phones while visiting Fort Hill.
