Gwendolyn Mink is the author of Welfare's End (1998; rev. ed., 2002), Hostile Environment: The Political Betrayal of Sexually Harassed Women (2000), The Wages of Motherhood: Inequality in the Welfare State, 1917-1942 (1995) and Old Labor and New Immigrants in American Political Development (1986).  She is also an editor of Poverty in the United States : An Encyclopedia of History, Politics and Policy (with Alice O'Connor) (2004); Welfare: A Documentary History of U.S. Policy and Politics (with Rickie Solinger ) (2003); Whose Welfare? (1999); and The Reader's Companion to U.S. Women's History (with Wilma Mankiller, Marysa Navarro, Barbara Smith , and Gloria Steinem) (1998).
