MISSION

 

The Registrar's Office maintains the permanent academic records of all students. In addition, the office is responsible for course registration, classroom scheduling, transcripts, transfer credit, certification of enrollments, issuing diplomas, and producing the Schedule of Classes.

 

BannerWeb@Smith is a secure site, available to all current Smith students, which provides student access to academic and financial records.

Registrar's Open Hours
Wednesdays 2-3:30 p.m. during the academic year. 

Registration for Interterm and Spring 2010
Advising and registration for Interterm and the spring semester will take place November 9th through November 20th. Registration is online and students should contact advisers in a timely manner to schedule advising appointments. Information and procedures can be found here.

Final Examinations
Information concerning scheduled and self-scheduled exams is posted at www.smith.edu/registrar/exams.php. Self-scheduled examinations will be distributed Saturday through Tuesday, December 19-22. The last exam period is Tuesday, December 22nd at 2 p.m. Students should check the schedule of exams carefully and report any conflicts to the registrar's office immediately. Examinations cannot be repeated and will be failed by default if missed through carelessness. Students should make their end of the semester travel plans accordingly as they will not be permitted to take examinations early.

UMASS calendar for the spring semester
Students and faculty should be aware that UMASS is changing their academic calendar.  The spring semester at UMASS will start one week earlier than the other four colleges beginning in January 2010.  A copy of the Five College calendar is available here.

Friday, September 18*

- Last day to add/drop a course online
- Last day to add a Five College course
Friday, September 25
- Last day to add a Smith course
- Last day for Ada Comstock Scholars to drop a course without financial consequences
Friday, October 9
- Last day to drop a course
- Last day to change grading option in 1st half sem course
Friday, November 13
- Last day to change grading option in Smith course
- Last day to add/drop a second half semester course
- Last day to use Free Drop option (see class dean)
Monday, November 30
- Last day to change grading option in 2nd half sem course

*all course changes after September 18th require signatures of instructor, adviser and class dean
