During the spring semester, “green” efforts sprouted up around campus. In January, students participated in a daylong national conversation about global warming during “Focus the Nation.” A few months later, two Smith presidents, Carol T. Christ and Jill Ker Conway, dedicated the college’s new field station for environmental study. The campus community learned that Paradise Pond would be dredged with a new environmentally friendly method. And, testing of the new source for heat and electricity—“CoGen”—began in advance of making the fuel-efficient system operational by the fall. Check out other notable happenings at Smith this spring.
