Tea and Talk with Smith Alumnae

On Sunday, January 17, at 7 p.m. in Scales Living Room, the Women’s Narratives Project will host a tea and discussion with three recent alumnae who will talk about how their lives have taken shape in the few years since graduating from Smith. While they each appear to have found their place in the work world, there is much to tell about how they got where they are, and speculation about where they will go from here.

The talk, which is part of the workshop “Eat, Write, Talk: A Gateway for Juniors and Seniors,” will be moderated by Jennifer Walters, Dean of Religious Life. Tea, coffee and desserts will be served.

Discussion participants are:

Emily Taylor ’08, a government major at Smith and a member of the crew team, was president of the Student Government Association her senior year. After graduating, she spent a year working as a whitewater rafting guide and ski patroller in the Adirondacks. She returned to Smith last summer to take a position in the development office as program coordinator for international advancement.

Tanya Nesbitt ’05, a government and sociology major, was chair of the Academic Honor Board and was a member and then captain of the track and field team. She was named Junior and Senior Athlete of the Year and still holds two school records in the 400-meter dash. She is now a commercial litigator in Washington, D.C., representing media companies seeking antitrust counsel.

Moitri Ghosh ’08, a psychology and art major, moved to New York City right after graduating and began work at the advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather in an associates program that allowed her to rotate through four departments with the agency. She ultimately was placed in production, where she is involved with planning and coordinating shoots, managing client expectations and supervising post production and delivery of final products to clients.
