Plenty of Performing Arts Commencement Weekend

The departments of music, dance, theatre and athletics will host several events during Commencement Weekend:

Thursday, May 13

Tricky Wicked Bitch
The Theatre Department presents a new play, Tricky Wicked Bitch, by Lisa Meyers ’11, an award-winning playwright and theatre major. Directed by Sarah Thompson ’10, the play is a quest for identity and family, told in poetry and vignette, music, dance, and time travel, as described by the playwright. Tricky Wicked Bitch will run Thursday through Saturday, May 13-15, at 8:30 p.m. in Hallie Flanagan Studio Theatre, Mendenhall Center. To purchase tickets ($8 general public, $5 for students/seniors, $3 for Smith students), call the Smith theatre box office, 413-585-ARTS (2787) or email boxoffice@smith.edu.

Celebrations Dance Company Annual Spring Concert (OPENING CANCELED due to power outage; see Gate announcement)

The annual Commencement Concert of Smith's student-run dance company, directed by Emily Kulik ’10, will present several new works choregraphed and performed by memebers of the company. 8 p.m., Scott Dance Studio. Friday, May 14

"Documenting Lesbian Lives"

A theatrical performance derived from students' class work in the Study of Women and Gender. 3-5 p.m., Sophia Smith Collection, Alumnae Gymnasium.

The annual Commencement Concert of Smith's student-run dance company. 8 p.m., Scott Dance Studio.

Lifeguards' Synchronized Swimming Show

Join the Lifeguards, Smith's synchronized swimming team, as they present their annual Commencement week show. A reception for Lifeguard alumnae will follow the performance in the pool gallery. 8 p.m., Dalton Pool, Ainsworth Gym.

Commencement Choral concert

The Smith College Glee Club, the Chamber Singers and the a cappella group Groove perform works chosen by the graduating class. 12#0-1:30 p.m., Sweeney Concert Hall, Sage. Free.

Commencement Orchestra Concert

Featuring soloists from the graduating class. 7:30-9:30 p.m., Sweeney Concert Hall, Sage.
