Where Does the Air Go? Tests Determine Houses' Energy Efficiency

Park House, which was renovated in summer 2009, is being tested this week for air leakage, along with Morris and Lawrence houses. With the data gathered from the tests, Park House (pictured below) will soon receive sealing treatment to leaky areas (Morris and Lawrence will receive similar treatment as part of renovations planned this summer), in order to increase the buildings' energy efficiency.

The process, which is being conducted by a local company, Cozy Home Performance, involves de-pressurizing the buildings and then blowing air and fog inside to locate areas of air leakage. The pictures below illustrate the process.
