By the time it’s over on Labor Day (Monday, September 7), nearly every Smith student—more than 2,700—will have processed through Central Check-In (CCI), an annual beginning-of-the-year event.

Designed as a one-stop enrollment venue, CCI assists students with financial aid issues, student employment and payroll questions, OneCard acquisition, health forms, orientation schedules, room key pickup, registration, and more, all within the Indoor Track and Tennis facility (ITT).

This year’s CCI schedule:

  • Sunday, Aug. 30, 1-4 p.m. (for new students)
  • Monday, Aug. 31, 9 a.m.-noon (also for new students)
  • Sunday, Sept. 6, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (for returning students)
  • Monday, Sept. 7 (Labor Day), 1-3 p.m. (for all remaining students)

All students are required to go through CCI, even if they’ve already picked up their room keys. (A $60 surcharge is added to students’ bills for failing to attend CCI.)

In addition to accommodating the requirements of enrollment, CCI offers an array of information tables represented by services and vendors on and off campus (see accompanying list).

On Sunday and Monday, Aug. 30-31, students, staff and faculty are invited to stop by CCI to purchase low-wattage light bulbs and lighting fixtures. Switch out your incandescent bulbs for low-wattage models; you’ll save money, save energy and help protect the environment. (Cash or checks only for purchases).

By Monday evening, when Opening Convocation rings in another year at Smith, all students will be checked in.
