Smith College Admission Academics Student Life About Smith Offices
Class Deans Office

ABOUT THE OFFICE

The class deans' office is primarily concerned with the academic progress of students toward graduation. There are four class deans: the first-year class dean, the sophomore class dean, the senior class dean, and the dean of the Ada Comstock Scholars and junior class.

The deans focus on academic matters that are most important to the students in each class, ranging from course selection and registration, grades, credit shortages and choosing a major, to studying abroad, honors and independent study, summer school credit and leaves of absence. Each class dean provides information, advice and guidance about academic programs and procedures to promote the academic success of Smith College students.
