Current Projects

There are four projects currently being researched by the Center.

The Contemporary University in the United States and Canada. I am currently working with Seymour Martin Lipset, of George Mason University and Neil Nevitte of the University of Toronto on a comparative study of many aspects of higher education between the United States and Canada. We have completed our survey and are now engaged in the analysis and writing up of a, or possibly two, books. Several articles from this study have been published in the Spring of 2003. American Elites Revisited. This is a revised and updated survey based on a study we published in 1996. Collection of the data is complete and is now being analyzed. Several articles have been published and others are being circulated. We should complete a monograph on the subject by 2004. For references to published articles, Click Here.

The End of the American Century. This work on the condition of the social and material capital of America at the end of the 20th century should be completed in 2004.

America In Decline. This work summarizes the Center's studies to date, placing them within the context of the theoretical framework noted in the Director's statement. We expect this work to be completed by 2005.
