Anna E. Ward teaches courses on queer studies, visual culture, embodiment, and popular culture. She holds a B.A. in Women's Studies and Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Ph.D. in Women's Studies from University of California, Los Angeles. Before joining Smith, she was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Gender & Sexuality Studies Program at Swarthmore College from 2010-2012. She remained at Swarthmore in 2012-2013 as Program Coordinator of the Gender & Sexuality Studies Program.
Her research has been published in Camera Obscura and Social Psychology Quarterly and is forthcoming in American Quarterly and the Blackwell Companion to Contemporary Documentary Cinema. Her current research focuses on the performance of race, nationality, and class within contemporary queer pornographies.
