The Summer Staff Chronicle Creative Issue needs submissions!

The summer edition of the Staff Council Chronicle is dedicated to you, the staff of Smith College, and your creativity. We are accepting creative work in three categories. For our “print edition" we are seeking: (1) creative-writing submissions—short story, essay, poetry—and (2) simple black-and-white artwork. (3) For our "online edition" we would love to display your full-color (or black-and-white) artwork and photography, in digital format. Deadline for submissions is May 29, but please contact Ken or Chris first (at staffchronicle@smith.edu) for details about submitting your work!

May 16 (Fri) - Bird Watching at Paradise Pond Results 5:00-9:00am

Twenty-two bird watchers combined to see/hear a total of 46 birds during the bird watch. Here is the list:

Common Loon (migrating), Great Blue Heron, Canada Goose, Wood Duck, Mallard, Common Merganser, Killdeer, Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, Rock Pigeon, Mourning Dove, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Chimney Swift, Kingfisher, Downy Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Pileated Woodpecker, Phoebe, Kingbird, American Crow, Blue Jay, Tufted Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, Warbling Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Northern Parula, Myrtle Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Tree Swallow, Rough-winged Swallow, Cliff Swallow, Barn Swallow, Wood Thrush, Robin, Catbird, Song Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Cardinal, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Baltimore Oriole, Red-winged Blackbird, Common Grackle, Cowbird, Goldfinch, Starling, House Sparrow.

Also seen were Squirrels, Muskrats and a Beaver.
