Kunin will speak from 4 to 5:15 p.m. in the Neilson Browsing Room. She will also speak on her new book Pearls, Politics, and Power.

Kunin, who was the first Jewish woman governor in the U.S., also served as Deputy Secretary of Education from 1993 to 1996, and as United States ambassador to Switzerland from 1996 to 1999. She was born in Switzerland in 1933.

Kunin received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, a master’s degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism, and a master’s degree from the University of Vermont. She currently serves as Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Vermont and St. Michael’s College.
