Mass Murder Expert to Lecture at Smith

James Alan Fox, whom USA Today describes as “arguably the nation’s foremost criminologist,” will visit Smith on Thursday, April 26, to give a lecture titled “Killing for Pleasure: Serial Killers Among Us.”

The lecture will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Weinstein Auditorium, Wright Hall, and is open to all in the Five College community.

Fox, the Lipman Family Professor and former dean of the College of Criminal Justice at Northeastern University, has written 16 books and published dozens of articles and columns on multiple murder, juvenile crime, school and workplace violence, and capital punishment. He appears regularly on The Today Show, Meet the Press, Dateline, 20/20 and Oprah. Fox has testified before the U.S. Congress on 15 occasions, and has consulted with former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Sen. Hillary Clinton, and former Attorney General Janet Reno, among others.

Fox’s lecture is sponsored by the Smith chapter of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, and the Smith psychology department.
